The next phase of Marvel movies is a highly anticipated one, especially because it will introduce a wide variety of new superheroes that the MCU has never seen before. Some of these superheroes include the Fantastic Four, a beloved team of superheroes that were acquired by Disney and Marvel upon the acquisition of Fox. As such, it’s exciting to see what Disney has in mind now that they own the characters. While it’s still unclear who will be playing the Fantastic Four, however, it seems a casting announcement is reportedly imminent. Not only that, but it’s been suggested that Marvel actually still wants to cast John Krasinski and Emily Blunt as Reed Richards and Susan Richards in their upcoming Fantastic Four film.
As revealed in a report via Geekosity:
“Despite recent reports that Blunt is out of the running, sources indicate that Marvel Studios has not given up on hiring her.”
According to them, their source revealed the following information:
“Not only is she the most popular choice for Susan Richards, but she’s perfect for the role, she is an outstanding actress who would bring gravitas to the role. Adding her real-life spouse is icing on the cake.”
Of course, it’s worth mentioning that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are far from guaranteed to join the upcoming Fantastic Four film. In fact, even Geekosity was quick to mention that Marvel’s newest offers for Krasinski and Blunt could have still been rejected. But considering the film is confirmed and production must happen soon, we should have an official casting announcement sooner rather than later. As such, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on that front as we have them. A few other choices suggested for the film also included Jennifer Lawrence possibly taking on the role of Susan Richards aka the Invisible Woman.
The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Fantastic Four film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
