With production moving fast on Don Mancini’s upcoming horror series Chucky, SYFY and USA are already dropping exciting teasers. One such teaser was revealed today, and shows off a new Chucky animatronic in action! While the behind the scenes footage clearly shows that the animatronic is still in some of the early stages of being built, it’s an exciting glimpse at what’s to come. Especially when you consider they’re using traditional practical effects to once again bring Chucky to life. It’s definitely going to be a good time for classic Child’s Play fans. Meanwhile the teaser itself appropriately uses the tagline “It’s time to reconnect with an old friend.” It’s also worth mentioning that the teaser uses Chucky’s iconic laugh and one of the most memorable lines from Bride of Chucky towards the end. This particular line is a perfect addition to seeing this Chucky animatronic come to life: “I always come back!” Yes you do, Chucky. And we can’t wait. A series based on the original Child’s Play franchise with original cast members and practical effects? It’s definitely a dream come true. Hopefully we’ll have more updates on the project soon as production continues.
The cast for the series includes Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Björgvin Arnarson, Lexa Doig, Barbara Alyn Woods, and Fiona Dourif.
As for the plot of this new Chucky TV series…
“In the television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”
The upcoming series Chucky is scheduled to premiere on SYFY and USA this fall.
