Even before the release of the Snyder Cut on HBO Max, fans have been clamoring for Zack Snyder’s vision for the DCEU to be brought back and continued with future projects. While his previous films weren’t exactly praised, people want a connected universe with a solid storyline throughout, a la the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, as fans buckle down for the 4 hour epic that is Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the wide open ending is just screaming for a sequel. As it was the voice of the fans that garnered the release of the Snyder Cut, a new hashtag is trending to see the rest of Snyder’s vision with a full Snyderverse.
The new social media campaign, #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, has already developed over one million tweets in just a week, according to the DiscussingFilms Twitter account. This includes support from Cyborg actor, Ray Fisher, would has been at war with WB for quite some time over the mistreatment he received from step-in director Joss Whedon on the theatrical cut of Justice League.
However, while this movement is already picking up massive momentum, it does fly in the face of what WB CEO Ann Sarnoff has said over the studio having no plans of continuing with Snyder’s vision. She stated that this HBO Max release is the proper ending to Zack’s vision and that the studio is looking to move forward from here. This includes zero plans to release the Ayer’s Cut of Suicide Squad. But, WB was adamant for years that the Snyder Cut would never see the light of day.
As you know, fans never gave up hope and continued to shout from the mountaintops that they wanted to see Zack’s true ideas for the film and the studio finally cracked under the pressure.
It is still very early in the movement and while the studio may not currently have any plans to continue on with the SnyderVerse, only time will tell if the film on HBO Max garners enough positive attention to push for more of Snyder’s vision to be made into films.
