Fans are still waiting for Halloween Kills to be unleashed later this year in October, and John Carpenter has continued to hype the upcoming sequel. In fact, he’s recently stated that franchise owner and producer Malek Akkad actually thinks Halloween Kills is the best film in the series after the original. This means the new film is certainly filling up some pretty big shoes.
Here’s what John Carpenter said while speaking with NME:
“Well, the producer and owner of the Halloween franchise, Malek Akkad, says it’s the second-best one right after the first. So that’s from him. I think it’s a balls-out slasher movie. We haven’t had one of those in a long time.”
He adds: “It’s done. We’re just waiting on the world to be a little bit more sane and a little safer before we release it. Holy Toledo! It’s the ultimate slasher movie.”
With John Carpenter calling the film “the ultimate slasher movie,” one can only imagine what’s in store. The Halloween franchise has had a long and bumpy road, but if it’s all led up to this, then I for one am all for it. Hopefully the movie lives up to the hype and fans can once again enjoy the return of Michael Myers. It’ll definitely be a great way to celebrate this year’s October and the Halloween season.
Halloween Kills was directed by David Gordon Green who also helmed the 2018 film. He wrote the script alongside Danny McBride and Scott Teems.
The film features a cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Charles Cyphers, Anthony Michael Hall, Kyle Richards, Nancy Stephens, Jibrail Nantambu, and Robert Longstreet. James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle both return as Michael Myers.
Audiences will not be able to see Halloween Kills until later next year, when the film hits theaters on October 15, 2021.
