One of the most exciting announcements made ahead of Paramount Plus’s upcoming launch is that the streaming platform would be the new home for Beavis and Butt-Head. The two animated characters have remained a longstanding part of pop culture since their creation in the 1990’s, and fans are excited to have them back. While a new series featuring the two was already ordered, it looks like a new Beavis and Butt-Head movie is also on the way. This would be the second feature film under the Beavis and Butt-Head brand, following the release of Beavis and Butt-Head Do America in 1996.
As revealed via Deadline:
“Mike Judge is making another Beavis & Butt-head movie that will sit alongside the Comedy Central series that was ordered last year. Beavis and Butt-head Do America hit theaters back in 1996, during the original series’ MTV run. Judge is executive producer, creator and provides voice over for both iconic characters.”
Beyond that brief announcement for the new movie, it’s unknown what the story details for the film will be or if/how it’ll tie-in with the new series. Nevertheless, fans should no doubt be happy to have not just one but two new Beavis and Butt-Head projects on the way. After all, it’s been a long time since the series had its first revival in 2011. It’s about time the titular characters get more time in the spotlight. In fact, as you can see below, a brief video featuring the two was released to promote the announcement. It includes Beavis and Butt-Head doing what they do best.
Hopefully we’ll have more details about the new film soon. But at the rate things are going, this should be a positive return for Beavis and Butt-Head – so stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the upcoming movie and series as we have them!
