It’s been announced that a fourth Jeepers Creepers film, titled Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, has already been shot and is on the way for a 2021 release date. The movie was recently picked up for worldwide distribution by Screen Media, who previously released Jeepers Creepers 3. What’s interesting, however, is that this new installment is intended to launch a new trilogy of films within the horror franchise. Not only that, but previous director Victor Salva has been replaced by franchise newcomer Timo Vuorensola.
As announced by Variety, this new film will have quite an interesting new take for the franchise. Here’s the official logline they received for the film:
“The film unfolds as the Horror Hound festival holds its first ever event in Louisiana, where it attracts hundreds of geeks, freaks and die-hard horror fans from far and wide. Among them is fanboy Chase and his girlfriend Laine, who is forced to come along for the ride. But as the event approaches, Laine begins to experience unexplained premonitions and disturbing visions associated with the town’s past, and in particular, local legend/urban myth The Creeper. As the festival arrives and the blood-soaked entertainment builds to a frenzy, Laine believes that something unearthly has been summoned…and that she is at the center of it.”
As stated above, the movie was already shot in December and January at Orwo Studios & Black Hangar Studios, as well as on location in Jackson, Louisiana. This is quite surprising, and it looks like fans can expect the Jeepers Creepers brand to be sticking around for quite some time longer.
Screen Media gave the following statement, announcing their desires to restart the franchise which started 20 years ago with the iconic 2001 horror film:
“As excited as we are, we know that fans will be even more thrilled (and chilled) to return to the world of the Creeper, now with a much scarier vision from director Timo Vuorensola, who is the perfect fit to restart this franchise.”
Timo Vuorensola is directing Jeepers Creepers: Reborn from a script written by Sean Michael Argo. It will be produced by Jake Seal of Orwo Studios & Black Hangar Studios and Michael Ohoven of Infinity Films. Seth Needle will produce on behalf of Screen Media. The project’s executive producers include Jamie R. Thompson, Terry Bird, David Nagelberg, Danny Zamost, Michael Musante, Lee Broda, Matthew Kurtain, Karey Kurtain, Alastair Burlingham, Gary Raskin, Elizabeth Primm, Suraj Gohil, Mark Mariani, Janelle Mariani, Galen Rasmussen and Shannon Chandler.
Stay tuned for more information as we have it, especially as the film will be coming sooner rather than later. Jeepers Creepers: Reborn is scheduled for a Fall 2021 release date.
