Marvel Studios has been known to keep a lot of their surprises close to the vest when it comes to plot twist and turns that keeps the audience guessing – but episode 5 of WandaVision will definitely blow everyone’s mind.
Major SPOILERS follow about the recent episode – because you can’t talk about the episode without them.
This week’s episode, “On a Very Special Episode..”, has been a mixed blend of what’s going on in the real world and Wanda’s reality set in Westview. The plot is being pushed further and at a speed that will surely end with a jaw-dropping conclusion. The married couple’s children Billy and Tommy have aged drastically and right before our eyes—pretty much like many sitcoms of the 80’s. The funny thing about this is that the twins are clearly wearing a certain set of colors that screams their outfits in Marvel Comics when they become Speed and Wiccan.
Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) is conscious and working with Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and FBI agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park). The three with the help of S.W.O.R.D have accomplished what they’re looking for, getting Wanda’s attention, and they might’ve bitten off more than they can chew.
Here is where we see that Wanda might be the villain Wandavision after all by giving S.W.O.R.D and the people involved her ONLY warning for them to leave her alone. That and the fact she’s forcing everyone in the real Westview to play characters in her sitcom multiverse setting. Maximoff has worked hard to create this reality and she’s not letting it go.
Unfortunately for her, that reality is slowly fallen apart as Vision is becoming aware of the false world he’s living in. When Vision confronts Wanda it looks like things are about to pop off in a very violent way. Cooler heads prevail and before Wanda and Vision can discuss the soon to be crumbling reality they are saved by a literal bell—or doorbell to be precise.
Last chance to turn back if you don’t want to be spoiled.
Who can it be? Well, it’s a special appearance from Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver! That’s right! Wanda’s long-dead brother is back, but wait, there’s more! He’s played by Evan Peters. Yeah, that Evan Peters from the recent now-defunct 20th Century Fox X-Men movies.

There had been talks from people involved with the production of WandVision that a Luke Skywalker surprise was to come to the show. This also opens the idea that maybe some of the characters from Fox’s X-Men universe might be brought over to the MCU. The only ones truly worth coming to the MCU side are Ryan Reynolds–which has been confirmed–Hugh Jackman, and Patrick Stewart – but that’s just my opinion.
However, Darcy does say in this episode that Pietro has been recast. Maybe talks for Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s return have fallen through or not been completed by the time of production. Or maybe this will be a one-off and Quicksilver will stay dead as a door-nail.
This is something that will spark another set of theories regarding the show and what’s to come of the MCU. One thing is for sure, Marvel Studios becoming the center of the pop culture zeitgeist is back in full swing.
