WandaVision is now three episodes deep and fans are truly loving it. We are only a third of the way into the 9 episode series, and there are so many questions popping up without too many answers as of yet. Who is ultimately in control of this pocket reality? Are the townsfolk in on it, or are they victims of it all? How is Vision alive? Who is Agnes really? It seems like none of our questions are being answered just yet, but there is one question that we now have a definite response to, and it comes from one of the show’s main players. We now know when this series takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.
Monica Rambeau actress, Teyonah Parris, recently was asked by TVLine about if this series is a prequel like Black Widow or from an alternate time. She gave a pretty definitive answer:
“[WandaVision] picks up right after the events of [Avengers:] Endgame, and for Monica, it’s obviously years later from when we saw her as a girl in Captain Marvel. [Eventually] we get to find out what’s been happening with her over those years that we missed, how she’s grown and evolved.”
So there you have it. This series takes place in late 2023/early 2024, after the momentous events of the highest grossing film of all time. So, this means that Vision is truly dead and Wanda is grieving with the massive loss of not only her brother from before, but now the love of her life. And that tends to wear on a person’s psyche. Now, when that person has reality warping power at the level os someone like Wanda, that can create a plethora of problems.
While we now know that WandaVision picks up where the Infinity Saga left off, and properly kicks of the MCU’s Phase 4, there are still plenty of questions left unanswered. Hopefully we learn at least a little more when episode 4 hits the Disney Plus streaming service next Friday. As we wait with bated breath, this series is slowly turning from a fun nod to classic sit-coms to a suspense thriller with superpowers.
Now that you know when it takes place, what question do you want answered next? Let us know in the comments below!
