It’s no doubt an exciting time to be a Spider-Man fan. A variety of films featuring the character and other related characters like Venom and Morbius are all on the way, and it’s nice to see Spider-Man 3 in production after what was most certainly a rough year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, with the way Spider-Man: Far From Home ended – many MCU fans have been wondering what direction Spider-Man 3 would be headed. Now it seems some Mysterio Easter eggs discovered on the Spider-Man 3 set may have given us some answers.
As you can see in the image below, which was taken from an Instagram page via @atlanta_filming, there’s a news stand with quite a few clues attached to it. For example, there are several posters of “I Believe” with the image of what’s no doubt Mysterio plastered over it. As for some of the other posters, they feature headlines like “Citizens to Defend Spidey”, which could tease some of the plot details that can be expected in Spider-Man 3. With that being said, however, none of the Easter eggs can be taken as confirmation that Mysterio will actually return in the film. Of course, the MCU has surprised fans before – so who knows? Perhaps we’ll see Mysterio again sooner or later. Especially if these Easter eggs will be keeping the character fresh in audiences’ minds.

The next Spider-Man film is no doubt going to be an interesting one, especially if recent rumors are to be believed. For example, it’s been recently reported that Daredevil actor Charlie Cox has actually finished shooting scenes for the movie. But much like the possibility of Mysterio returning, it’s mostly speculation at this point. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Jon Watts is directing the film which was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori.
Spider-Man 3, which has yet to receive an official title, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
