With the year that 2020 has been, we are all ready to just put it in out rear-view mirror and look toward the future. And, for comic book movie fans, the future is incredibly bright! Marvel is putting out something seemingly every month at this point. DC isn’t far behind, with the Snyder Cut of Justice League coming to HBO Max, Wonder Woman 84 which was just released on Christmas, and several other projects in the works. One such project is Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Now, as production ramps back up, a new rumor of turmoil on set has some fans worried.
The report comes from the British tabloid, The Sun, so take this all with a grain of salt, but supposedly Robert Pattinson is getting fed up with ‘perfectionist’ Matt Reeves. Apparently, Reeves is nitpicking every shot and forcing multiple retakes every time, upwards of 50 takes, all while Pattinson is in the heavy bat-suit suffering. The anonymous insider had this to say:
“Filming has been a grueling process, especially for Robert, as Matt is such a perfectionist. He’ll insist on doing scenes over and over again and get bogged down in the tiny detail. Sometimes it’s like he doesn’t know when to stop.”
Apparently, this isn’t the only issue, as Matt Reeves has reportedly become paranoid about catching COVID to the point of down right insanity.
“It’s got to the point now where he’s been directing scenes while zipped up inside a puffa coat and with ski goggles on. As a Covid-secure outfit, it’s questionable.”
Now, this insider could be confusing Reeves for The Riddler on set, as the Riddler’s look in the film is that of a puffy jacket and goggles, so who knows for sure. All we do know is that this is just a rumor for now and we won’t really know anything until after the film is released. Even then, if its successful, we may never hear about this turmoil behind the scenes. If the film bombs, however, expect it to come out that Reeves perfectionism was a problem.
