Google have released their annual Year In Search list — with Black Panther and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey making the list of most-searched-for movies in 2020. The search engine’s list of trending topics is divided into a range of different categories, from news to films and TV. This year’s list of most-searched films includes the MCU and the DCEU, with Black Panther and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey taking out the third and eighth spots, respectively.
Google’s data shows that Black Panther saw a surge in searches in August this year, following the death of Chadwick Boseman. Many fans rewatched the 2018 release again and again in tribute to the actor. In late November, Disney Plus added a special tribute to Boseman at the start of Black Panther.
To all fans of #BlackPanther: watch the film on #DisneyPlus late tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts.

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, meanwhile, was searched for more often towards the start of the year — which makes a lot of sense. The film’s spike in searches was around February, which is around when it was first released in cinemas. The searches declined for a few months, before a smaller spike in August. Following its release towards the start of the year, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey was met with a pretty positive reaction from critics and fans alike — although it still faced its fair share of criticism.
