One of the more interesting original productions released by Netflix in recent years has been their “Haunting” series, which includes The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. Interestingly, each series has been its own self-contained story. As such, many fans have been wondering whether or not Haunting creator Mike Flanagan would be following up the first two seasons with another entry. Unfortunately, for those eager to see more, it doesn’t look like there are any plans.
Mike Flanagan was recently asked by a fan whether or not there’d be a new Haunting season, and he explained that although something could change, there aren’t any other seasons happening at the moment. Instead, Mike Flanagan and his team are eagerly focusing on different projects. As Mike Flanagan revealed via Twitter:
“At the moment there are no plans for more chapters. Never say never, of course, but right now we are focused on a full slate of other @intrepid projects for 2021 and beyond. If things change we will absolutely let everyone know!”

While it is exciting to know Mike Flanagan is still busy working on new projects for horror fans, it is no doubt going to be upsetting for Haunting fans that there won’t be another season. But who knows? Perhaps with time, a new story will come along. The first season, The Haunting of Hill House, was based on the story of the same name by Shirley Jackson. Meanwhile, The Haunting of Bly Manor was based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, along with a small variety of his other stories. Both seasons contained cast members Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti as a variety of different characters.
Audiences can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any updates regarding Mike Flanagan and his upcoming projects, and whether or not a new Haunting season will end up coming to fruition. In the meantime, at least we were able to enjoy The Haunting of Bly Manor this year. It’ll be exciting to see what other potential projects will be on the way next.
