The rumored cast for Spider-Man 3 just gets bigger and bigger by the day, it seems. Following the reports that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are set to reprise their roles as Peter Parker; Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey, it looks like fans will be seeing even more familiar faces on the big screen – in what is shaping up to be a jam-packed movie, and one that MCU fans are definitely excited about.
The Illuminerdi report that two more Spider-Man villains are in talks to return for Spider-Man 3: The Green Goblin and Sandman. The characters, played by Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church respectively, were both foes of Maguire’s take on the web-slinger. It’s not clear how much of a role either character would have in the film, though.
Dafoe played Norman Osborn, who later becomes the Green Goblin, in 2002’s Spider-Man — and was the first big villain that Peter Parker ended up having to battle. It’s unclear how he may be returning, considering his character’s fate at the end of the film. Church, meanwhile, played Flint Marko in the 2007 Spider-Man 3. After an accident, the character found he had developed the ability to turn himself into sand.
They’re not the only villains said to be returning for the jam-packed installment in the Spider-Man franchise, however. Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in the Andrew Garfield-starring The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is also said to be returning. And Alfred Molina, who’s Otto Octavius (Doctor Octopus) was last seen in 2004’s Spider-Man 2, will also be back.
Given all the villains’ rumored to be back on the big screen for 2021’s Spider-Man 3, some fans have begun to wonder if The Sinister Six could be the foes that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker could be facing down. The group’s original membership is comprised of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven The Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman, and Vulture — so it’s looking like it could be a possibility. One thing’s for sure, though: Spider-Man 3 is shaping up to be an unforgettable film.
