There are tons of films that parody and spoof the ‘Disney Princess’ troupes that have been around since the 1930s. Whether it is a straight up bashing or a tongue-in-cheek ode to the genre, plenty of movies take a jab at Disney and their formula for their staple of fairy tale/princess stories. There is one, however, that does it the best, and funny enough, Disney made it! I’m talking, of course, about Disney’s Enchanted. Starring Amy Adams and James Marsden, Disney turned the mirror on themselves and made a film about a princess who ends up in the real world where the prototypical expectations of a Disney princess get flipped on their head. Now, over ten years after the first talks of a sequel started, Disney Plus is set to make Disenchanted!

Disenchanted is the very long awaited sequel to the successful self-spoof on princess films. For those who haven’t seen the first movie (and why haven’t you?!), here’s a breakdown:
“A fairy tale comes to life in this thoroughly original, new Disney Classic. Drawing inspiration from its classic heritage, Disney creates an inspired story unlike any you’ve experienced before. Filled with excitement, fun, and incredible music from the legendary Alan Menken, ENCHANTED is the ultimate fish-out-of-water adventure. For princess-to-be Giselle, life is a fairy tale — until she’s banished from the animated land of Andalasia and thrust into the very unmagical, live-action world of modern-day Manhattan. When a cynical, no-nonsense divorce lawyer comes to her aid, little does he realize that this joyful, wide-eyed innocent is about to enchant him. ENCHANTED — the musical comedy that will have your entire family under its spell.”
Now, thanks to the massive Disney Investors Day Event, we got confirmation that the sequel, which has been on the books since 2010, is finally coming! As for the cast members who are returning, we know that Amy Adams will play Giselle once again, and Menken brings his legendary ear to the music again. Marsden, who has discussed openly a want to return, has not yet been confirmed. There is no word yet on any plot points or where the story will go, but if it is anything like the first one, we’re in for a lot of sarcastic good times! So, look for Disenchanted coming to Disney Plus!
