The Walt Disney Company Investor Day presentation occurred Thursday online and looks like the mega studio has come out guns blazing. Marvel’s wing has been silent for quite some time this year with little to no news on what’s to come from the MCU or its shows. It looks like that changed with plenty of announcements to quench your thirst finally arrived. Kevin Fiege took the stage and dropped some updates on Captain Marvel 2.
We found out early this year that the new Candyman director, Nia DaCosta is set to direct the sequel to the 2018 hit film. It looks like Brie Larson will be joined by newcomer Iman Vellani who is set to play Ms. Marvel in her Disney Plus series. Joining the two will be an older Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris.
This is big news. Not only are we getting Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel in the same movie, but hopefully an older Rambeau will be able to dawn her Photon persona. I would bet my money that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will make an appearance in the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series at one point.
No word on when production is set to start but it looks like Marvel is gearing up to dominate the pop culture zeitgeist once again. We don’t know at what capacity each character will have on Captain Marvel 2 but all we need is a nice amount to keep building these characters into the constantly growing MCU.
The last time we saw a Rambeau was in Captain Marvel played by Lashana Lync, but the character is set to also appear in the upcoming Wandavision as well. At what capacity is unknown. We know what Marvel is doing with their plans and doing them pretty damn well.
