Oscar Isaac is quickly becoming the busiest man in Hollywood. H isn’t filling his calendar with just small projects, but is shouldering multiple massive cinematic properties with frantic fanbases all at once. Hot off the heels of his Star Wars run as Po Dameron, Isaac joined the cast of Dune before signing on with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as arguably the most sought after character by fans, Moon Knight. He is also set to star in the adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn’s Ex-Machina comic. This is all on top of several other projects with some of Hollywood’s best, like Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain. Now, Isaac looks to tackle another role with a massive fanbase, and that’s the role of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid video game movie adaptation!
Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures will adapt the beloved Konami video game created by Hideo Kojima that has spanned over 30 years of gaming. Many of the modern games have become critically acclaimed successes, and the deep plot has garnered millions of fans worldwide. The cinematic feel of the games, along with the deep action plot, has had people wanting to see it on the big screen for quite some time. Until very recently, video game adaptations have not exactly gone well in the theaters. That trend seems to be turning around, though, so now is the perfect time to attempt to bring this franchise to the silver screen.
Isaac will join director Jordan Vogt-Roberts on the film. There is no current timeline for production or release, and with the actor’s incredibly packed schedule, it’s hard to gauge when exactly we will see this movie come to life. Regardless of when, this is shaping up to be something fans can get behind and that will do the games justice. If anyone can pull of Snake, it’s Oscar Isaac.
