Ever since the news of Disney buying Fox Media became official, fans have been clamoring for any information as to how Marvel Studios would incorporate the Fox Marvel properties like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. While it makes sense how these characters will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their standard PG-13 rhetoric, there is one character that seemed like a square peg trying to go into a round hole: Deadpool. The Merc with a Mouth, known for his crude language and 4th wall breaking mentality doesn’t seem to work within the established MCU. However, there is no need to fret, as it would seem that Marvel is indeed moving forward with Deadpool 3!
Deadline is reporting that Ryan Reynolds and Marvel have found their writers for the film that will bring Wade Wilson into the mix. The Molyneux Sisters, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, have been tapped to write the script for the third solo flick, and the first foray for Deadpool in the MCU. The Molyneux Sisters are best known for their time on Bob’s Burgers, which they have eight Emmy nominations and one win, as well as the writers, creators, and showrunners for the upcoming Fox series, The Great North. The writing duo seems to be a perfect fit for Deadpool and can most likely find the best way to fit him into the MCU without losing any of who he is.
Between this news and the recent possible plot leak for the film, it looks like Marvel and Ryan Reynolds have formulated a plan to bring in Deadpool but without ‘nerfing’ him in any way. This is great for fans who have fallen in love with how Deadpool has come to life on the silver screen. Hopefully now that the ball has started rolling, we will get some more information on the film and a possible release date soon.
