It’s no doubt that one of the most exciting announcements in recent history for DC fans is that Justice League would finally be getting the much desired “Snyder Cut.” Fans had been rallying for Zack Snyder’s original interpretation of the film ever since the film was instead finished and released under Joss Whedon’s creative control. Now that production is underway on Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the official title for the project, we’re learning all sorts of interesting tidbits for the film. For example, it’s just been revealed that actor Jared Leto will be reprising his role as The Joker from Suicide Squad for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
As explained by THR:
“Jared Leto, who played classic DC villain the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, has joined in the shooting of additional footage for the “Snyder Cut,” the filmmaker’s definitive version of the 2017 superhero movie he was forced to exit and never saw through completion.”
This is a particularly interesting announcement, considering that Jared Leto was actually never before a part of Justice League. This should really put Zack Snyder’s Justice League in a new perspective, as there’s now no telling how much new material will be implemented into the project. But considering the immense amount of effort being placed to create this new cut of Justice League, there will most certainly be a lot of changes and additions to be expected.
The new take on Justice League is expected to hit HBO Max sometime in the Summer of 2021. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will then be split into four parts, each of which will be one hour long. As such, there should be plenty of room in Zack Snyder’s Justice League not just for Jared Leto as The Joker – but for a variety of other characters as well. Of course, only time will tell who else will be given new spots in the film. For now, we know that Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher and Amber Heard are all working on the project alongside Jared Leto.
