The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been an incredible feat all unto itself in the world of Hollywood. Never had there been such a vast and interwoven set of franchises like the MCU. Separate stories and characters with their own unique takes, but with an underlying connection that culminates in massive team ups. Now, thanks to streaming services like Disney Plus, we get to enjoy an over decade long catalog of MCU films. One question, though – in what order do we watch them? Now, Disney Plus gives you options, including chronologically.
Disney Plus has set up new options for watching the MCU movies. As before, you can watch them in the order they were released, but now there is also an option to watch them in chronological order. Meaning, Captain America: The First Avenger is your first film, as it takes place during WWII. Instead of waiting to watch Captain Marvel until after Avengers: Infinity War, that would be your next film, as it is set in the 90’s. There are a few films missing, of course, as the Spider-Man solo films rest with Sony Pictures, and The Incredible Hulk has its distribution rights with Universal, but the other 20 films are ready for your viewing pleasure.
Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain Marvel
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Thor
The Avengers
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 3
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Captain America: Civil War
Black Panther
Doctor Strange
Thor: Ragnarok
Ant-Man & the Wasp
Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Endgame
The MCU’s Infinity Saga was, for the most part, pretty straight forward chronologically. However, with Phase 4 on its way, and bigger jumps in time, like Black Widow falling between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War, this list will get far more interesting in the future. Add on a film like Eternals, which spans thousands of years, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which encompasses different dimensions and quantum realities, and a simple list just may not do. We’ll have to wait and see on that, but for now, enjoy the films in any order you please!
