In a year that seems straight out of some B-Movie Horror Fest, 2020 has not exactly been kind to us. But, as the seasons change, the leaves turn, and a chill rolls through the air, we know that Autumn is upon us. And, with Autumn, comes Halloween! This Halloween in particular should have been an extra special one, falling on a Saturday and with a full Blue Moon. COVID has other plans for us, though, but fret not, for Blumhouse has our backs. Now, prepare to be terrified by not one, not two, but EIGHT horrifying films from the new masters of horror! And, they have now released the trailers for the first four films of the Welcome to the Blumhouse series!
Blumhouse has partnered with Amazon to bring eight distinct horror films each telling their own perspective on the common themes of love and family, and whether they can be redeeming or deprecating. And, these films will be free for Amazon Prime members! The first four films will be released a week apart in double features, with The Lie and Black Box coming out on October 6th, and Evil Eye and Nocturne coming October 13th. Here are the trailers, and a synopsis for each:
The Lie
When their teenaged daughter confesses to impulsively killing her best friend, two desperate parents attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading them into a complicated web of lies and deception. The Lie stars Mireille Enos (The Killing), Peter Sarsgaard (An Education) and Joey King (The Conjuring)
Black Box
After losing his wife and his memory in a car accident, a single father undergoes an agonizing experimental treatment that causes him to question who he really is. Black Box stars Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World 3, The Circle), Phylicia Rashad (Creed), Amanda Christine (Colony), Tosin Morohunfola (The Chi, The 24th), Charmaine Bingwa (Trees of Peace, Little Sista), and Troy James (The Flash, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark).
Evil Eye
A seemingly perfect romance turns into a nightmare when a mother becomes convinced her daughter’s new boyfriend has a dark connection to her own past. Based off the award-winning, best-selling Audible Original production from writer Madhuri Shekar, Evil Eye stars Sarita Choudhury (Mississippi Masala, Lady in the Water), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Omar Maskati (Unbelievable), and Bernard White (Silicon Valley).
Nocturne
Inside the halls of an elite arts academy, a timid music student begins to outshine her more accomplished and outgoing twin sister when she discovers a mysterious notebook belonging to a recently deceased classmate. Nocturne stars Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The Handmaid’s Tale, Player’s Table), Madison Iseman (Jumanji: The Next Level, Annabelle Comes Home), Jacques Colimon (The Society) and Ivan Shaw (Insecure, Casual).
All in all, it looks like we’re in for one terrifying October, even if we’re stuck at home. Look for these four and the rest of the Welcome to the Blumhouse series coming to Amazon next month!
