As the highly successful fan favorite show, Supernatural, on the CW comes to its end with its 15th and final season later this fall, many people have wondered what exactly will the Winchesters will be up to in the future. As we know, Jared Padalecki will be jumping onto a reboot of the Chuck Norris classic series, Walker: Texas Ranger, but what about Jensen Ackles? Everyone’s favorite gruff demon hunter hasn’t been announced for any new projects. That is, until now. And, he’s stepping up from monster slayer to superhero! Of sorts, that is…

Ackles took to his Instagram to tease a new project, and it’s one that fans should be pretty stoked about. As the incredible Amazon Prime series, The Boys, gears up for its second season, the show has been renewed for Season 3. And, with a third season, comes more Supes. Ackles, it seems, will be playing Soldier Boy, the graphic novel’s version of Captain America. The World War II vet is considered the first superhero. Now, considering that the Supes on the show aren’t exactly heroic, it will be interesting to see how Ackles plays the character on screen. Now, in the comics, Soldier Boy is naively moral, unaware of the depravity around him, even refusing to swear. This is quite a paradigm shift from Dean Winchester, but if anyone can pull it off, it’ll be Ackles.
The show obviously takes its liberties from the comics, being that there is only so much you can pull off in real life versus the pages of a graphic novel, as well as standards and practices (even for a streaming service). So, some of Soldier Boy’s storyline may not make the show. Unfortunately we won’t know exactly those changes are until Season 3 gets underway, which will be awhile, considering that season two hasn’t even hit the airwaves yet. But, Ackles casting definitely makes the season worth anticipating.
