The world is in an unusual and important flux as people deal with a global pandemic unforeseen in a century as well as a massive movement in civil rights. Part of that civil rights movement has been for more inclusivity for the LGBT+ community in the entertainment industry. The LGBT+ community wants to have more representation of their own on screen, with people in said community to portray themselves in film, rather than straight, cis-gendered actors portraying important homosexual and transgender roles. In light of this, Academy Award winning actress, Halle Berry, has stepped down from a role as a trans person and has offered an apology.
After Halle Berry posted an Instagram Live story about her excitement of getting to represent the Trans community with a role as a Trans person, she received quite a bit of backlash. After giving it some thought, Berry decided to back out of the role and offer up an apology.

“As a cisgender woman, I now understand that I should not have considered this role and that the transgender community should undeniably have the opportunity to tell their own stories.”
Halle went on to say that she will continue to support the LGBT+ community as a fierce ally. Lately, the Trans community has been in a battle with Hollywood, as some celebrities like acclaimed Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, have made some rather inflammatory remarks against Trans people. However, more and more celebrities are using their voices and fame to show support and try and make positive changes in the industry, and the world. People like Chris Evans, who has been a staunch LGBT+ supporter since before his brother came out, use their vast reach to fans to help push equality and the elimination of homophobia.
Hopefully, the Earth can come together and realize that no matter you race, gender, sexual orientation or creed, we are all one race, the Human Race, and we all deserve equality and kindness.
