Gina Carano recently drove the internet crazy after she posted a topless nude photo of herself on Instagram. The photo was lit darkly enough that it made its way past the initial censors, but nevertheless ended up getting taken down. She first posted the picture to express her desire for “freedom”, and upon seeing the photo get removed, Carano made another few social media posts on the subject.
Firstly, she took to Twitter and gave the following statement on the matter:
“So that’s what it’s like to be censored for no reason,” Carano wrote on Twitter. “Pic was taken down by Instagram. There’s much more important news today but that was some classic bullshit. The whole post was about freedom of expression. Violating zero rules. Ironic. Feels like I graduated. Thanks Karen.”

Gina Carano also posted an edited version of the topless nude photo once again on her Instagram, giving her body the appearance of a tree. Only time will tell if that too ends up being taken down.
Nevertheless, aside from the social media censors, there were some other complaints about her topless photo. One such complaint came from former UFC and PRIDE fighter Renzo Gracie. She made the following comment:
“Put some clothes on, you don’t need it,” Gracie commented. “You are among the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. That makes you unique. There’s no need for sex pics, you are the most beautiful woman that walks around, simple as that.”
Regardless, Gina Carano seems very determined to emphasize her desire for freedom, one which includes expressing her body any way she wants to. As such, perhaps we can expect her to make future posts in an effort to “outsmart” the censorship systems on social media and continue to post pictures of herself naked as a means of empowerment. In the meantime, fans can expect her to return in The Mandalorian season 2.
