Beavis & Butt-Head is finally coming back for another round of animated mayhem, this time switching over from MTV to Comedy Central. That’s right, Mike Judge is going to be responsible for another two seasons of Beavis & Butt-Head, with plans to write, produce, and voice the two lead characters of the series in this new return.
Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment & Youth Group, had this to say, via a new press release:
“We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central,” he began. “Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own.”
Meanwhile Mike Judge stated that “It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again.”
The series is intended to appeal to both the original show’s Gen X parents and the younger Gen Z kids of today, which should make for a golden return for both Beavis & Butt-Head. And with the way 2020 has been, it should be the perfect time period for some ripe social commentary and satire. As Mike Judge pointed out in his above statement, it definitely does seem like the time is right “to get stupid again.” It’s been a long time since Beavis & Butt-Head made their return in 2011, and the world has already changed quite a bit since then. It’ll be good to have them back.
And luckily with this return, we should be left with plenty of Beavis & Butt-Head. Aside from the two new seasons that will be airing on Comedy Central, Mike Judge also made a deal for additional spin-offs and specials featuring the boys.
As of this writing, there’s still not any word on when we can expect the first of the two new seasons or any of the supposed spin-offs. But hopefully we’ll hear more soon.
