Today’s PlayStation 5 reveal event, titled the PS5 Future of Gaming Event, has given us quite a few exciting glimpses into what we can expect to hit alongside the new console. This now includes the latest Resident Evil title, a game which seems to be rather stylistically similar to Resident Evil 4, titled Resident Evil 8: Village. Now you can see the first official trailer for Resident Evil 8: Village down below!
As you can see in the footage, it looks like our protagonist Ethan Winters from Resident Evil 7 and his wife Mia make a return. This time, however, Chris Redfield shockingly appears – a revelation glimpsed at in the trailer – and his appearance sends the game rocking forward into an eerie gothic village. While it’s unclear what the extent of the game’s antagonists will be, it looks like werewolves will be part of the focus.
What’s more, it looks like the video game will once again reuse the first person camera view incorporated by Resident Evil 7. This should make the game increasingly more lifelike and horrifying as you use your narrowed and limited perception of the setting around you to navigate through icy villages and creepy castles. There’s also no telling what horrifying unseen threats could be waiting just around the corner.

It really is a fun time to be a Resident Evil fan, and while this new trailer isn’t too incredibly revealing – there were some unconfirmed leaks that suggest another winning title from Capcom. Fans should no doubt be pleased with this newest entry in the beloved Resident Evil franchise. Hopefully we do get more official news soon, and always you can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for when any new information on the title hits.
The exciting next chapter in the iconic survival horror franchise, Resident Evil 8: Village, will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.
