Many horror fans were already excited for The Stand, which is set to be the second miniseries adaptation for author Stephen King’s novel of the same name. But once the Coronavirus pandemic started to pick up steam, The Stand became a massive topic of conversation – with many comparing our real world events to those depicted in the fictional novel and its original 1990’s TV miniseries adaptation. Now, with perhaps better timing than ever, the first images for this new adaptation of The Stand have been released – and you can check them out down below!
As you can see from the images, which come courtesy of Vanity Fair, this looks like both an incredibly respectful yet refreshing take on Stephen King’s iconic post-apocalyptic epic. The images from The Stand include our first look at characters like Mother Abagail, antagonist Randall Flagg, and many other characters fans will be familiar with.

It certainly is exciting getting to see our first look at The Stand in these images, which is something fans of Stephen King have been anticipating for quite some time. Luckily it seems the Coronavirus pandemic wasn’t enough to stop the miniseries, because production was mostly finished before the pandemic hit. Therefore the series is still scheduled to hit CBS All Access at some point later this year. Hopefully the miniseries will manage to live up to the novel, especially for those fans who didn’t feel the first miniseries did the epic story justice. It definitely looks like there is potential, however, judging by the images.
The cast for this upcoming miniseries adaptation of The Stand includes Whoopi Goldberg, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, Daniel Sunjata, James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Fiona Dourif, and Henry Zaga. Alexander Skarsgård will play the iconic Stephen King villain Randall Flagg.
Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore are the showrunners for the miniseries.
There’s currently no release date for The Stand, but when we get one – you’ll hear it here first.
