The Coronavirus pandemic has been an incredibly disappointing time for horror fans. The unfortunate quarantine procedures that it’s warranted have forced the population to endure an incredibly long time being stuck at home. And to make matters worse, this has impacted the entertainment industry as well, forcing plenty of delays. While it’s unclear when things will go back to normal on that front, fans will luckily still have new horror content to look forward to – even if it’s not exactly what audiences were expecting. This seems to be the case with The Candy Witch, a horror film that seems to be a little bit derivative of, well, you’ve guessed it – Candyman.
You can see a trailer for The Candy Witch down below, and it is a very interesting looking horror movie for sure. As stated, it seems to take a lot of inspiration from Candyman, and that inspiration is incredibly obvious when looking at the titular antagonist’s hand – which indeed happens to be a prosthetic hook. Nevertheless, it should be something neat to look forward to while the actual Candyman along with many other anticipated mainstream horror films continue to be delayed.
The Candy Witch was both written and directed by Rebecca J. Matthews, who may indeed be recognizable for directing another similar horror film cash in – Pet Graveyard. So if you were a fan of that particular horror movie, then this may especially be the perfect movie for you.
As you can see in the footage, the film seems to focus on several ghost hunters that make their way into a city haunted by the legend of The Candy Witch.
The film’s cast includes Kate Lush, Abi Casson Thompson, Heather Jackson and Richard D. Myers.
The Candy Witch is set to premiere on both digital video on demand and DVD formats on June 9.
