The Coronavirus pandemic has made an incredible impact all across the globe as people are forced to work from home, go into quarantine, or for those essential workers – go into overdrive to help keep things running smoothly. It’s been an incredibly testing time but, on the bright side, the lack of people has been rather beneficial for nature. For example, as you can see down below, there’s a wildlife park in South Africa named Kruger National Park which released several beautiful photos of lions sleeping on a road during the current Coronavirus quarantine.
The Kruger National Park Twitter page made the following caption to explain the truly special photos:
“This lion pride are usually resident on Kempiana Contractual Park, an area Kruger tourists do not see,” Kruger National Park tweeted on Monday. “This afternoon they were lying on the tar road just outside of Orpen Rest Camp.”

The photos, which were taken by Kruger National Park Ranger Richard Sowry, only show a few of the lions living in the park. Krueger National Park, which consists of just about 2 million hectares of northeastern South Africa, actually contains roughly 1,600 lions according to the official website.
As their site states:
“It is estimated that there are currently 1,600 lions in the Kruger National Park, give or take 225 animals, and they are nearly all in tiptop condition. This is the result of a lion population survey carried out during the winter months of 2005 and 2006. The survey is the first to study the park’s entire lion population, as previous lion counts had targeted only certain areas of Kruger.”
While the Coronavirus continues to act as a rather nasty plague around the globe, there are still some positives like these beautiful lions to acknowledge during this time. Because while most of the globe is stuck inside due to a massive amount of quarantine orders, it seems that the wildlife is doing just fine for the most part.
