Even since reports have aired about Justice League’s arduous production process, DC fans have been clamoring to see director Zack Snyder’s vision fulfilled in a Director’s Cut. Now regarded as the Snyder Cut, this edit of the version builds upon many of the concepts that were established in previous DCEU projects, including the reveal of new characters like the Martian Manhunter. While it seems like this fan movement has gained momentum with the celebrity support it has gained, a recent report has revealed that a Snyder Cut will likely never see the light of day.
According to a Fandom Wire exclusive, Warner Brothers will not be releasing the Snyder Cut on HBO Max, denying a rumor that had been circulating the past few months. A fan movement that looked to make the project a reality has been more dangerous to its release than helpful, with the insider revealing that the fan outcry has sparked a feud between Snyder and Warner Bros executives.
“The fact is, Warner Brothers did take a meeting with Zack Snyder to discuss the project, but Snyder requested $20 million dollars and the permission to reshoot parts of the film, to which Warner said “No, way”. Talks ended there, and there are no plans to start them again.
In fact reps inside Warner Brothers are getting angrier and angrier at Zack Snyder for encouraging false stories on movie websites, that rally fans to think Snyder’s Cut of the film is finished. It’s not.”
While I wish a Snyder Cut of Justice League would see the light of day, the fact that most of the footage has yet to be filmed likely means it will never happen. Warner Brothers doesn’t want to invest any additional assets in a film that bombed at the box office when it was released, and it’s hard to blame them for wanting to move on Snyder’s work considering the success they have had since he’s left.
