It has been a rough time over the last few years for horror fans as a vast amount of beloved genre icons – ranging from filmmakers to cast members – have passed away. It appears that memorable actor Dieter Laser, perhaps best known for his two appearances in the Human Centipede franchise, is now unfortunately part of that list. It’s been reported that Dieter Laser had passed away several months ago on February 29, 2020.
The German actor was a major player in the genre and became immediately iconic following his successfully disturbing performance as the evil Dr. Heiter in The Human Centipede. A few of the 78 year old actor’s other credits included some of the following films: I Am the Other Woman (2006), The Ogre (1996), Conversation with the Beast (1996), Don Quixote’s Children (1981), The Elixirs of the Devil (1976) and The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum (1975).
His death (the cause of which is currently unknown) was unfortunately felt by many fans and other filmmaking individuals after it made rounds on social media. This perhaps most popularly included Tom Six, the director responsible for having created the entirety of the Human Centipede trilogy and giving Dieter Laser his respective roles in the first and third films of the trilogy. Here’s what Tom Six had to say about Dieter Laser’s death via Twitter:
I’m totally shocked Dieter passed away. He was a force of nature, an unique human being and an iconic actor. I’m so damn proud we created pop culture together. Wished we could have made many more movies. RIP my friend, you will live forever on screen! pic.twitter.com/ERGEsY5aZV

It’s definitely been a tough time seeing so many genre icons pass away. But as Tom Six himself stated, Dieter Laser will live forever on screen. He’s given many iconic performances that will continue to remind the world of his tremendous acting ability and real world charisma.
