The Coronavirus has been a real pain for everyone, as it’s tampered with a variety of things most people tend to take for granted. This includes movie theaters along with most other businesses either temporarily closing down or changing standard procedures to accommodate the Coronavirus pandemic. While Disney has already famously removed the release dates for several upcoming films, it now appears other studios are following suit. Now Lionsgate has announced several release date cancellations for Antebellum, Run, and Spiral: From the Book of Saw with no new dates yet in place.
Antebellum was originally being released on April 24, Run on May 8, and Spiral: From the Book of Saw on May 15. It’s rather shocking that the release dates are being removed with so much time still between now and the original intended release dates. And no doubt we can probably expect more release date cancellations following those made by Lionsgate. It really indicates an idea of how much longer we might have to expect the effects of this Coronavirus pandemic to last.
Lionsgate explained the release date cancelations via Twitter:
With theaters across the country closed, Lionsgate will be postponing the releases of ANTEBELLUM, RUN and SPIRAL. We can’t wait to share these films with the world when this challenging moment is behind us. pic.twitter.com/pLcX4F27jN

It’s definitely continuing to be a tough time as this Coronavirus pandemic forces the entire economic and societal landscapes to react. Although these are stressful times, however, everyone seems to be working together to improve the situation. Hopefully things will go back to normal and we’ll be able to relax and enjoy these movies in the theaters as intended at some point in the near future. As always, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any updates on the Lionsgate cancellations and anything else that’s been impacted by the Coronavirus thus far.
