While nothing official has yet been confirmed for development, there have been some interesting discussions going on behind the scenes regarding the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The classic horror film series has been a massive topic of conversation now that the Wes Craven estate apparently regained the rights to the original 1984 film. As we’ve last heard, it appears that they’ve been taking pitches for where to take the franchise next going into the future. One such possibility is that we could be getting a new Nightmare on Elm Street TV series. Again, while nothing has been officially confirmed for development, it’s still been an exciting prospect and one that one fan decided to imagine when creating his very own fan trailer for an imaginary Nightmare on Elm Street Netflix series.
Netflix has been a major production company and distributor over the last few years for both original and licensed film and television content. And that would no doubt make the streaming platform the perfect place for Nightmare on Elm Street to make its much anticipated comeback. While there isn’t anything official about Netflix doing a Nightmare on Elm Street television series, this fan trailer does a good job at pitching the idea.
As you can see in the fan trailer down below, created by YouTube user Mindd Kidzag, the trailer uses footage from films like The New Mutants, Freddy vs. Jason, Mama, IT: Chapter Two, Before I Wake and the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake from 2010 to create its own setup. It’s an interesting blend of concepts and scenes both old and new to help imagine what future Nightmare on Elm Street could have if Netflix decided to pick up the property for a new series.
The trailer was originally uploaded to YouTube on November 9, 2019, to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original A Nightmare on Elm Street film. While it’s been a few months since then, now is just as good a time as any for the video to make rounds across the Internet.
Now you can see for yourself what a Netflix series based on the A Nightmare on Elm Street film franchise could look like.
