We’re at a period in time when the streaming giant Netflix continues to produce and distribute a surprising variety of high quality horror genre content. While they’ve tackled both movies and shows, they have one series in particular – their second original Korean show overall – that tackles a rather unique part of the zombie genre. The series is titled Kingdom, and aside from being an original Korean series, it’s also uniquely set during Korea’s medieval Joseon period. As such, it has a rather fresh feel when placing zombies in both a classic time period and foreign setting. Now audiences can see the second season trailer for Kingdom down below!
As you can see in the footage down below, the new season follows the story of a crown prince that’s sent out to discover the source of a plague spreading across Joseon – only to discover that the plague is actually the result of an ensuing zombie outbreak. It’s a fascinating take on both zombies and Joseon era Korea, and it only shows that Netflix has a shockingly high standard these days for their original content.
Hopefully the second season of Kingdom lives up to the exciting footage displayed in the newly released trailer. But after a successful first season, it is perhaps safe to assume that Kingdom will continue to be a riveting interpretation of classic zombie fiction. After all, as stated above, Netflix has been having quite a massive breakthrough with the quality of their original content – and that’s especially true when it comes to their horror fare. So hopefully audiences will be pleased to see the second season of this medieval Korean zombie series and its exciting cast of characters.
The Kingdom series stars Ju Ji-hoon, Ryu Seung-ryong, and Bae Doona.
Kingdom is directed by Kim Seong-hun.
The second season for Netflix’s zombie series Kingdom will be premiering on the streaming service on March 13, 2020.
