Marvel has done a lot right during their cinematic tenure, but perhaps one of their few missteps is developing consistently strong villains. Movies like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange feature extremely forgettable antagonists despite boasting great actors in the role (Corey Stoll and Mads Mikkelson respectively). A few characters have been able to stand out though, with Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger, Josh Brolin’s Thanos, and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki being equally compelling and villainous in their respective roles. Perhaps no one is as beloved as an antagonist as Hiddleston, who has played Thor’s evil brother with a dastardly charm as he constantly flips his allegiances.
With Loki now getting his own Disney+ series, it is exciting to think of the possibilities that can come from seeing the character pop up throughout history, influencing key moments along the way. While fans still have to wait till 2021 to check the series out, Twitter user cosmic has leaked a few photos from set showing Loki being detained by law enforcement. Check it out:

Whether its the sitcom-parody approach of WandaVision or the historical globe-trotting narrative of Loki, I am glad Marvel is taking interesting risks with their Disney+ shows. It would be easy for them to directly ape the formula that has worked so well for them on the big screen, but they seem to be playing around with the new format in creative ways. I can’t wait to see what different time periods Loki ends up making an impact in.
For Hiddleston, this is a much-needed opportunity for the actor to shine as the lead in one of his most iconic roles. Loki is a great character because of his constantly conniving ways, but exploring a bit more of his humanity could make for an even more impactful representation of Asgard’s villainous man of mischief.
