Starting up a new phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe, Black Widow has a lot of pressure to follow up on the unprecedented success of Avengers: Endgame. Many are excited to see Scarlett Johanson finally get a leading role in her own superhero project, but her untimely death in Endgame does make Black Widow’s inclusion feel somewhat odd as a follow-up (why Kevin Feige couldn’t work this movie in earlier in the MCU is still a mystery to me). Still, there’s interesting wrinkles that this Black Widow film will introduce, including the big-screen debut of the Taskmaster.
While the character has appeared in only a few frames of trailers and TV spots, Topps baseball has offered the best look yet at the character with a new card promo. Check out the photo along with the trailer and synopsis for Black Widow.

Judging by the Taskmaster’s look, the character has the potential to be an effective foil for Natasha Romanova. I like how his design mirrors that of Captain America, with the shield , in particular, looking straight from Roger’s iconic costume.
With it being only months away from Black Widow’s May 1st release, I am still curious to see what Marvel is bringing to the table with this prequel. The addition of actors like David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz will certainly help bolster the ensemble, and it will be interesting to see how Robert Downey Jr. comes into play with his final appearance in the MCU.
