The Travel Channel has been working on expanding its demographic by creating content that appeals more to horror fans. And they’ve had an excellent start by announcing a new series last year titled Shadows of History, which was revealed to be hosted by horror icon Robert Englund. Now it’s been stated that the series has been renamed as “True Terror With Robert Englund,” further emphasizing the horror elements the Travel Channel intends to include.
On top of the new name announcement, the Travel Channel has also unveiled a release date for the upcoming six part television series. It looks like we can expect the series on March 18!
“Revealing the sinister side of our history, I’m thrilled to bring nightmares to life on True Terror,” said host Englund in a statement. “These are tales so terrifyingly twisted, we can only hope they stay on the blood-soaked pages of the newspaper headlines from our past.”
“We’re delighted at Travel Channel to have the true icon of horror films, Robert Englund, take a ‘stab’ at leading our viewers through these hair-raising tales,” added Travel Channel’s Matthew Butler. “In his signature spooky storytelling style, Robert resurrects the creepy and odd of America’s past, bringing viewers real stories that reveal sometimes our fears aren’t mere figments of our imagination after all.”
True Terror with Robert Englund premieres across Travel Channel on March 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
The premiere episode is titled Twisted Relationships, and as explained by Bloody-Disgusting, it “begins with a North Carolina storekeeper who is tormented by a prophetic countdown to his doom. Did he will his own fate, or was there a higher power at play? Then, a New Orleans teenager finds himself literally trapped inside a waking nightmare, unable to save himself from his horrific fate. Finally, an Atlanta police station becomes a battleground for a killer … and a vengeful spirit.”
Hopefully True Terror With Robert Englund lives up to its name, and delivers a series horror fans can truly enjoy next time they tune in on the Travel Channel.
