While covering film and television often brings exciting developments to the table, some days reminds us of the human element behind these endeavors. Today is a particularly sad day, as it’s been announced that American Horror Story and The OA actor Harry Hains has passed away at the age of 27. This announcement comes from Hains’ mother Jane Bader, an actor in her own right, who announced via Instagram that Harry passed away on January 7th.
In her moving post, Bader shares what happens to her son and offers information on his service. Here are the comments:
On Jan 7 my beautiful son died . He was 27 and had the world at his feet . But sadly he struggled with mental illness and addiction . A brilliant spark shone bright too short a time .. I will miss you Harry every day of my life … if you are in LA and know harry there is a service for him at Hollywood Forever Sunday jan 12 at 3 pm . 6000 Santa Monica Blvd .. RSVP [email protected]
In his young career, Hains had involved himself in a variety of independent and major productions. In American Horror Story, the actor played a key role as a young man encountering Jeffery Dahmer on Devil’s Night, the day in which serial killers reunite. Along with staring in independent films like The Surface and A Haunting at Silver Falls: The Return, Hains has several films currently in post-production, including a starring role in the film Mirrors.
Anytime someone passes at such a young age is particularly tragic, with Harry Hains enduring a struggle between mental illness and addiction that is commonplace in our society.
