Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige confirmed that a character Marvel has always wanted to use will be featured in Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. While the highly anticipated Doctor Strange 2 won’t premiere until 2021, details regarding the film are steadily being released.
During a Q&A with New York Film Academy, Feige stated that a new character will be revealed in Doctor Strange 2, one that Marvel Studios has always wanted to use. While Feige was vague regarding who the mystery character could be, he expressed his excitement over the character’s inclusion.
“The next Doctor Strange film, for instance, features some new MCU characters which will be making their debut in that movie you won’t expect or won’t guess who it is but we found a cool way to make it work because we want to make a particular type of movie there and there was a character who we always wanted to do something with who will fit really well there.”
While details about the upcoming sequel remain somewhat mysterious, it has been confirmed that both the Disney+ series WandaVison and Loki will tie into Doctor Strange 2. Although details about Scarlet Witch’s role in the sequel haven’t been confirmed, there is a theory that she potentially could become the MCU’s next big villain. Feige has also stated that Doctor Strange 2 will be scary but not actually a horror movie.
Fans will continue to speculate over plot details and characters in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness until the film’s November 2021 release, which is part of the fun. In the meantime, you can see Benedict Cumberbatch in Sam Mendes’ 1917 on January 10th, 2020.
