Marvel and Spider-Man fans had a short period of time when they were in fear that their beloved webslinger would be taken out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The deal between Disney/Marvel and Sony was temporarily broken, and things looked like Sony would be taking Spider-Man and actor Tom Holland for themselves and use him for shooting their own unrelated franchise of Spider-Man movies. But thankfully, after plenty of support from fans, as well as actor Tom Holland himself, Disney/Marvel and Sony were finally able to renegotiate a new deal that made everyone happy. As a result, Spider-Man would retain his place among the other superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and we’ll be getting Spider-Man 3.
Now that Spider-Man will continue being allowed to take part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studios in charge will continue their plans to produce a third and proper Marvel based Spider-Man film. While there isn’t much yet known about what exactly the events of the film will be, it has been revealed that the film production is scheduled to begin sometime in the Summer of 2020.
With this date in mind, we should expect plenty of more Spider-Man news as the upcoming year comes in and shooting begins. And with that we should soon know more about the plot, which characters will return or be introduced, and how exactly the movie’s storyline will continue to build on the established Marvel Cinematic Universe. Especially now that Disney/Marvel and Sony have figured out their new deal.
The new Spider-Man film set to take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home will hit theaters on July 21, 2021.
As always, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more information as it’s released.
