It looks like the new year will start off with a bang for horror fans, as the Japanese and American horror franchise which includes The Grudge is receiving another theatrical installment similarly titled The Grudge. However, this film will act as a companion piece to the 2004 film as it’s set within the same universe. Now you can see some new images from The Grudge down below which unveil an exciting look at the new curse featured in the film.
The new images from the film definitely promise an interesting new interpretation of what we know from The Grudge franchise. Hopefully the filmmakers will succeed in creating a proper continuation that will be able to flow parallel to the previous American films as they’ve planned. After all, it’ll be fun to see Japanese inspired horror make a bit of a theatrical comeback at the box office. It’d be a shame if this film doesn’t do as well as intended by the filmmakers behind it. But judging by the new images and promotional material, that shouldn’t be a problem.
The film also stars Lin Shaye, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Jacki Weaver, and Frankie Faison.
Nicolas Pesce directed this new installment from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Buhler. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise are producing the film.
The R-rated horror film will be hitting theaters on January 3, 2020.
In The Grudge…
“The new plot finds Andrea Riseborough (MANDY) as a cop in a new town who comes across a seemingly-unexplainable case that leads her to a house that has been grudged.”
