The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been an excellent example of balancing isolated films while also creating massive crossovers and event films utilizing their vast catalogue of characters and interconnected storylines. While we’re now in the latest phase of Marvel storytelling, following the release of Avengers: Endgame which wrapped up the Infinity Saga, it looks like there’s still plenty of other epic team ups on the way. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige himself has said production on such an epic Avengers team up is “well underway.”
Kevin Feige recently appeared at the Comic Con in Brazil, and while there he spoke out about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what exactly fans can expect in the future regarding another Avengers style of crossover.
Here’s what he specifically stated to the audience:
“The MCU is all interconnected, but we really focus on one movie at a time. We’re going to make the best Black Widow movie we can possibly make, the best Eternals movie we can make, the best Shang-Chi, the best Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther… And keep evolving their stories. Then, yes, it is always fun to see them come together in a master plan. Which is, I promise you well underway.”
It especially makes sense when you consider The Eternals will span 7,000 years of human history, which should easily play a large part into the “master plan” that Feige teases. In fact, he seems to have suggested that the next epic crossover film could include a meeting between both The Eternals and The Avengers.
“The Eternals know about the existence of the Avengers, the Avengers don’t know much about the Eternals. Yet,” Feige teased.
It will certainly be interesting to see where the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes from here. Especially with the potential Marvel team ups that are in the works.
