BBC and Netflix have an exciting way to celebrate the New Year with horror fans – January marks the premiere of the brand new Dracula miniseries. Now we have the first announcement teaser via Netflix and an official trailer for Dracula, both of which you can view down below.
Here are the titles for the three 90 minute long episodes:
- “The Rules of the Beast”
- “Blood Vessel”
- “The Dark Compass”
In the new miniseries which stars actor Claes Bang as the titular Count Dracula…
“In Transylvania in 1897, the blood drinking Count is drawing his plans against Victorian London.”
The cast for the upcoming Dracula miniseries also includes stars John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark and Lujza Richter.
Jonny Campbell directed the first episode for the series, Damon Thomas directed the second episode, and Paul McGuigan directed the third and final episode of the miniseries.
The series was written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The two previously helped create BBC’s Sherlock.
The Dracula miniseries will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on January 1 with the following episodes released on January 2 and 3, respectively. It will then be available in its entirety on Netflix on January 4.
The trailers definitely boast an amazing gallery of visuals, all of which perfectly illustrate the gothic beauty and horror of Bram Stoker’s original Dracula novel. It’s been a long time since anyone has bothered cooking up a proper adaptation, so although it may not be a theatrical film interpretation, it’s still nice to see a modern attempt at adapting the famous horror novel. Hopefully it lives up to fans’ expectations and delivers a riveting retelling of the source material.
