It was expected that the rumored Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake along with Project Resistance would be officially announced at the Game Awards, following a recent leak of the games’ cover designs. Now instead the two games have now been officially announced during PlayStation State of Play.
While the first trailer for the new Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake only shows glimpses of Nemesis, there’s still plenty of Jill and various other characters to show off the game’s new redesigns.
Meanwhile more information has also been released regarding Project Resistance – and it turns out that it’s not quite another game, but actually an online component that will be available with the main game.
It’s also been revealed that a Collector’s Edition of the game will be ready for purchase – and it includes a statue of Jill Valentine, her classic costume for the game, a Raccoon City map, and even S.T.A.R.S.-themed packaging.
Hopefully the new remake lives up to expectations, especially when considering Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is one of the most popular games out of the classic Resident Evil titles. But given the success of Resident Evil 2, and the effort that was obviously put into that particular remake, we should have nothing to worry about with this new entry. It’ll also be interesting to see how Project Resistance plays out, since that will be an online component. The online matches are supposed to be asymmetrical, which is a major trend in the horror gaming industry right now – so seeing Resident Evil expand itself to all these new heights is extremely exciting.
The new game will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC beginning on April 3, 2020.
