A surprising new casting announcement has been made regarding the upcoming iTV miniseries Des, which is based on the true crime book Killing for Company by author Brian Masters. It appears that actor David Tennant has taken on the role as real life serial killer Dennis Nilsen. A photo has been releasing showing off the Doctor Who star in a uniquely different role where he really expresses himself as a disturbed psychopath.
As you can see for yourself in the image below, David Tennant seems to have been a perfect casting choice for portraying Dennis Nilsen in the series. He’s completely transformed himself into a murderous version of the famous serial killer.
The miniseries will consist of three episodes. Luke Neal developed the series alongside Lewis Arnold, and Neal has also written the first two miniseries episodes. Meanwhile Kelly Jones has written the third episode. Luke Neal, Lewis Arnold, and David Tennant are also executive producing alongside Willow Grylls, Kim Varvell, Elaine Pyke, and Charlie Pattinson.
Aside from David Tennant, the series will also star Jason Watkins as Brian Masters – the author of the book from which the series is based – and Daniel Mays as Detective Chief Inspector Peter Jay.
The series will apparently begin with Nilsen’s arrest, and slowly delve deeper into his mind as the series takes on the perspectives of Nilsen, the police, and as mentioned author Brian Masters.
While the series has yet to begin production, we can expect it will start soon considering the image of David Tennant as Dennis Nilsen. Hopefully we get more information on that front soon, as this sounds like a delightfully solid project for fans of true crime.
