This MCU Spider-Man franchise has introduced us to some villans we haven’t seen in live-action yet. Homecoming had Vulture, Shocker, Tinkerer, and Scorpion. And Spider-Man: Far From Home had Mysterio, the Elementals, and possibly Chameleon. Those Elementals were based on Molten Man, Hydro-Man, and Sandman. Out of those, we only saw Sandman previously. He was played by Thomas Haden Church in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. But as for all MCU movies, it’s good to have a pair of eagle eyes. Because some of the people that work for Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck have names that belong to even more villains. Somebody has pointed out that one of the Beetles were working for Mysterio.
Screen Rant brought a name to our attention. Claire Rushbrook played the woman who pretended to be the bartender in the faux scene with Quentin and Peter. In the bar, Quentin talked Peter into giving him the EDITH glasses he received from Tony Stark. Then when Peter left, Mysterio’s illusions fell away to reveal a team working for this mastermind. In the credits, Rushbrook is listed as Janice Lincoln. That identity belongs to one of the few that wore the Beetle suit. She was a member of Zemo’s Thunderbolts and a female version of the Sinister Six known as the Sinister Syndicate.
Note that there is a rumored Thunderbolts movie on the horizon. William Hurt’s General Ross will have a cameo in Black Widow. And Zemo will return in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Hurt’s appearance is said to set up this villainous/anti-hero team.
But what’s even more interesting is her last name. Janice Lincoln is the daughter of one Tombstone. The mobster with the grey skin is otherwise known as Mr. Lincoln or Lonnie Lincoln. He was featured as a member of Kingpin’s Sinister Six in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. With the rumor that Vincent D’Onofrio might reprise his role in Spider-Man 3, hopefully, we’ll see Tombstone as well.
Another member of Mysterio’s team was Victoria Snow. She dated Whiplash in the comics. With all the ties to Stark Industries, she could be used to retcon elements from Iron Man 2. Mickey Rourke played Whiplash in the Iron Man sequel.
These may just be Easter Eggs. But I’m pretty sure they’re setting up the Sinister Six for the third Spider-Man installment. And there may even be more members than just six. With Spidey’s identity revealed, a plethora of mercenaries may be sent after him. Scorpion and Vulture are waiting for him in prison. Though J. Jonah Jameson isn’t a costumed villain, JK Simmons’ returned character could be pulling strings in the background. Ned Leeds will probably become Hobgoblin. Dmitri, who worked for the Skrull versions of Nick Fury and Maria Hill, could turn out to be the Chameleon. And he could contact his brother, Kraven the Hunter. Janice Lincoln could become the Beetle. She could contact her father. If Charlie Cox is reprising Matt Murdock as Peter’s lawyer, then he could attract one Wilson Fisk. And who knows if Mysterio really is dead.
Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for theaters on July 16th, 2021. There hasn’t been any official announcement about the plot just yet. Hell, Spidey just got out of contract jail. But as soon as we hear any developments and any other secret Spider-Man: Far From Home findings, Screen Geek will let you know.
