Phase Four of the MCU will begin next year with Black Widow. Though Marvel Television promised shows that might have been connected, Disney Plus will actually offer shows intertwined with the movies moving forward. 2020 might only have two movies with Black Widow and Eternals. But the year will also have a limited series. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier promises to continue Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ story following Avengers: Endgame. It will also see the return of Zemo from Captain America: Civil War. And on October 31st, 2019, filming has begun on the first Disney Plus MCU show.
Malcolm Spellman will be the showrunner for Falcon and the Winter Soldier. His duties will include writing and producing the set of six episodes. Aside from those duties, he’s taken it upon himself to post on social media. On his Instagram, he shared a photo of one of the directors’ chairs. Embroidered in the fabric is the show’s logo. And the caption announces the first day of shooting. The picture has since been deleted, but Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan shared this:

There are a few plot points that we know so far. Daniel Bruhl will reprise his role from Civil War. But now, he will don his character’s iconic hood from the comics. There was concept art from the film that showed him wearing said garment. But evidently, the powers that be felt that was uneeded for this version. Therefore, there will probably be something in this show that will explain that addition. Also, from the epilogue of Endgame we saw Steve Rogers pass his shield onto Falcon. But it’s said that the government won’t acknowledge Wilson’s promotion since they made Captain America in the first place.
Emily VanCamp is also reported to reprise her role as Sharon Carter. And Wyatt Russell will portray U.S. Agent for the first time in live-action.
Everything else is speculation. But Infinity War and Endgame co-writer Christopher Markus expressed his desire for Arnim Zola to realize his final transformation as a robot. So hopefully we’ll see Toby Jones on this show. And as of yet, there is no word on where Don Cheadle’s James Rhoades will appear next. Perhaps he’ll do so in this.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be available to stream on Disney Plus in the Fall of 2020. With filming underway, they are sure to hit that mark. Photography is banned from the set. But hopefully, we’ll see some more clues shortly. For reports on those clues, and the rest of the MCU, stay up to date with Screen Geek.
