Avengers: Endgame and Hawkeye producer, Trin Tranh, said that Marvel Studios isn’t planning on any overarching plots just yet. Right now, their focus is on the upcoming movies and Disney Plus shows. Regardless, MCU fans are still theorizing who the next Thanos-level baddie will be. One fan suggested Kang the Conquerer.
u/secsmachine posted their theory to the r/FanTheories subreddit community. In which, they utilize a Tony Stark quote from Endgame,
You mess with time, it tends to mess back.
Kang the Conqueror is the Phase 5 villain.

The MCU frequently borrows from past movies for future plots. Therefore, using the time-travel element from Avengers: Endgame for a Kang plot makes sense.
The updated and expanded version of The Marvel Encyclopedia describes Kang the Conquerer as,
“Born in an alternate timeline in 3000 AD, Nathaniel Richards (a descendent of Mr. FANTASTIC’s father, who bore the same name) discovered time-travel technology that enabled him to journey virtually anywhere he liked in the timestream.
Richards’ first stop was ancient Egypt, where he seized power and ruled for a decade as Pharaoh Rama-Tut until forced to flee after a fight with the FANTASTIC FOUR. Arriving in the 40th century, he briefly became the SCARLET CENTURION before settling on the name Kang the Conquerer. Kang found the century in turmoil and easy to subjugate.”
The theory also states that Kang could lead to Galactus in Phase Six. Both Kang and Galactus are Fantastic Four villains. With the Disney/Fox merger, the MCU can now movie into FF territory. Therefore, in a new movie about Marvel’s first family, we can hopefully find seeds to either of these villains.
There is no date set for Fantastic Four just yet. But Kevin Feige gave hope for such a movie at this year’s San Diego ComiCon. Also, fans are looking for the next movie where the MCU will culminate. An Avengers 5 is probably the next place we’ll see someone like Kang.
