Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has been pretty epic. Avengers: Endgame was a good wrap, with Spider-Man: Far From Home serving as an epilogue. But they’re not done yet. And believe it or not, DC has something that they don’t. I’m not talking about their movies. Over on a little channel called CW, they are planning a massive event called Crisis On Infinite Earths. The famous comic book arc will be adapted. And they are using this to pull elements from DC’s history to create a multiverse. Therefore, it’s rumored that Marvel might do the same.
The rumor suggests that a multiverse is being planned, which will include elements from their past. Such will probably stem from the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The first part of this plan is to include Spider-Man in the Venom series. When Sony and Disney reached a new deal, announcements were that Tom Holland will be included in the MCU and Sony’s SUMC. Therefore, Holland will probably appear in Venom 3.
However, the third installment of Sony’s symbiote may not necessarily be called Venom 3. The studios may be planning a Maximum Carnage adaptation. Or, even better yet, a Spider-Verse adaptation.
But, here’s the kicker. These rumors circling the Spider-Verse adaptation would include Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. This sounds ambitious. And this would compete with DC’s Crisis. But I would see Marvel recasting Garfield and Maguire in different roles than putting them back in Spidey suits. But crazier things have happened. J.K. Simmons did return as J. Jonah Jameson, hasn’t he?
Take this rumor with a huge grain of salt.
To see if this rumor unfolds into reality, check back with Screen Geek. Venom 2 is planned for October 2nd, 2020. And Spider-Man 3 will arrive on July 16th, 2021. If Disney and Sony are planning something this big, I’m sure we’ll see the signs in these two movies.
