In a surprising turn of events (and something straight out of a Hitman movie), it looks like five hitmen have now been convicted for attempted murder and placed in jail. The five hitmen each avoided carrying out the murder in order to profit from the ordeal.
It appears a Chinese businessman named Tan Youhui was paying to have one of his competitors, Wei Mou, killed. He offered 2 million yuan ($282,769.40 USD) for the hitman who could complete the criminal task. It was here when things began to get complicated.
This could only happen in China, or a Cohen Brothers movie:
Hitman hires hitman who hires hitman who hires hitman who hires hitman who tells police.

The first hitman that Tan Youhui hired decided to hire a hitman himself for half of the original price that he was being offered.
It was then the second hitman who decided to hire the third, and he who decided to hire the fourth, and finally he who decided to hire the fifth and final hitman for the job.
Interestingly, it became too much for the fifth hitman who was displeased at the lower price. He ended up informing the target Wei Mou to simply fake his death, and that’s when the authorities became aware of the situation.
The businessman Tan Youhui and his five fellow hitmen were then convicted of attempted murder by a trial hosted in Nanning, Guangxi. The trial ended up lasting a total of three years.
Tan, who hired the original hitman, was placed in jail for five years. Meanwhile Xi, the first hitman, was sentenced to three years and six months. The second and third hitmen, Yang Kangsheng and Yang Guangsheng, respectively, were sentenced to three years and three months. The fourth, Mo, was sentenced to three years, and the final hitman Ling was sentenced to two years and seven months.
