Marvel had concluded various character arcs through Avengers: Endgame, supposedly ending the main storylines for certain characters. However, it looks like we could still expect to see Captain America make an appearance. Or, at the very least, three Captain Americas based on the iconic superhero.
In a new report from WGTC, it appears that there’s at least three specific types of Captain America characters Marvel would like to include. The three characters are mentioned as black, female, and even gay. And that’s not counting Sam Wilson, who is currently the new Captain America within the latest phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Interestingly, these new characters won’t all take over the Captain America alias specifically, either. The new characters will have different names but all of which are connected to the original Captain America – Steve Rogers.
For example, one of these new characters could potentially be Patriot otherwise known as the African-American Eli Bradley in the comics. There’s also Miss America, who could either be the female Captain America or even a gay Captain America that Marvel is interested in introducing.
It ultimately leads the way for many interesting possibilities for Marvel to utilize in the future. After all, the absence of Steve Rogers as Captain America leaves a pretty large gap in the middle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They’re bound to need a strong character or more to make up for what they’ve lost.
Either way, Sam Wilson is first in line to pick up the mantle when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres in late 2020. Hopefully Marvel does a good job at giving him a chance at the Captain America role before expanding the concept further.
